I’d Like to Buy a Vowel

Plinky asked me…
What game show would you like to be a contestant on?

Wheel of Fortune!!!! I’d rock it OUT!! 🙂
I’ve been a fan of Wheel of Fortune before I could even read! I remember sittin in my Papa’s lap and calling out all the letters to solve the puzzle!!! If I did solve, I’d get SOOOO EXCITED!!! 🙂
So, thanks, Papa, for introducing me to that wonderful, colorful wheel and the puzzles that unfolded!
Hopefully if I ever go on the game, I won’t freeze up and not be the rock star that I am at home!

What I Want to be Remembered for…

There’s a powerful, unmistakable generation of mothers I have to follow. Hopefully I can, but if anything, I want to be remembered for being the very best mother I could ever be for my future children. Although I’m not a parent yet, I someday hope to be, I want to be remembered for being the very best mother. I know I have two very important mother figures in my life and other mothers who have become my friends, and I could only HOPE to become half the mother they are. I will be sad to say that my grandmother (Mama) who raised me won’t be around my future children the way she was with me. I just hope I carry on her legacy and make her proud. My biological mom has been there for me and we are so close–and I can only hope to have the kind of relationship we have with my own children. Also, and you know who you are, some of my very best friends are mothers and they have given me examples of what a mom or mother should be–caring, a disciplinarian, a giver, etc… I could go on and on…
But, that is what I want to be remembered for: that I was the very best mother I could be (to my future children;))!

How I became the worker I am today…

My first job was at a fast food joint. Well, it was a world-renowned diner. I worked there for at least five years (the better part of my adolescence, anyway). I can say, in hindsight, that this job taught the most about life.

It taught me how to be a better employee. Since I started the minute (it seemed) after I turned sixteen, I practically grew up in the place. I learned responsibility as well as self control. I guess it helped that my mom worked there, so it wasn't like I could call in during the early years… Also, since it was de-lish food, I had to learn to limit my consumption!

My store manager taught me how, later in my "career," to be a better manager. Jay taught me never to ask employees to do anything you wouldn't do, including taking out the trash. And that was the type of manager I became.

The interactions with customers made me understand the role as a consumer, as well, because I learned the behavior I DID NOT want to exhibit as a customer. One of the reasons why I put things back in their proper place if I decide against buying them–someone has to pick that up!

I would encourage anyone to work fast food as their first job. Hopefully, they will have the experience that I had, and it will mold them into the worker I am today.

Technology Dependence, iThink so…

I had a dream… I owned the pad, the pod, the phone, the bookPro, and the mini. But, for now, I can’t live without my iPhone!

I’m not sure I’d call it an addiction… But, I tend to feel stark naked without my…. iPhone!!! Once I went apple, I’ll never go back… Just today, I couldn’t think of the word for obsession with fire while I was on the phone with my boyfriend. So, midst conversation, I went to google, was redirected, and found pyromania under wikipedia! and… voila! I had the word I so desperately wanted to use!

The other day I left my phone at home all day and, let me say this, I was devastated! I was with my boyfriend and family, so I was sure that I wouldn’t need to be contacted by anyone, but still. What if? Besides, how was I supposed to check my FB status updates and Twitter feed, or shakedown my businesses on Mafia Wars?? I was a fiend. Let me just say that!

I’m not sure if it counts, but I also can hardly live without 3G or wifi network…. Going back home, all they have is Edge network… ughh–slow! can’t even hardly send a text with picture!!
